PLP celebrates 1000th truck hire
The Cesab dealership, which has been hiring trucks to customers across South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas for nearly 45 years, has recently handed over the keys for its 1000th hire truck, a Cesab M330G forklift.
The impressive milestone was reached thanks to a decision by agricultural and country goods retailer, Torne Valley Country Stores, to contract hire their newest truck from PLP. The business, which sells garden supplies, household goods, electrical items, power tools and animal feed to name a few, from outlets in Tickhill, Bakewell and Epworth, had owned several forklifts but had never hired one up until now.
Steve Falkingham, Sales Director, PLP said: “Torne Valley Country Stores began to see the benefits of contract hiring a new truck after realising the inclusion of servicing and maintenance would mean more uptime and better budgeting.
“When a business owns its forklifts, it has to factor in the cost of repairs, delivery of spare parts and availability of engineers to service those trucks. With our contract hire, the pressure is off and management time freed up because our customers don’t have to chase for spare parts or repairs. We agree on a service and annual thorough examination inspection, so customers know when our engineers will be on site.
“We’ve also helped the customer to improve costs by reducing their forklift fleet from seven to five, while continuing to make productivity a priority on their three very busy sites.

Steve handed over the keys to the 1000th hire truck, proudly emblazoned with a gold 1000th label, to Chris Chambers, Purchasing Manager and Geoff Clarke, Health and Safety Manager at Torne Valley Country Stores.
